Experience Meets Dedication
This reflects my approach to legal practice.
A Little bit of Background
A Career Built on High Level Advocacy
Following qualification in 2007 in London, I practised within leading criminal defence firms recognised for their excellence in the Legal 500. For over 15 years, I practised as both a Solicitor and a full‑time Higher Rights Advocate, representing clients—including young people—in serious and complex criminal matters. I regularly appeared before the Crown Court and the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), conducting lengthy and high‑profile trials, and I successfully represented both adult and youth defendants in appeals against sentence before the Court of Appeal.
This foundation gave me strong advocacy skills, strategic insight, and extensive experience managing complex, sensitive, and high‑profile proceedings.
Prosecution & Regulatory Work
In 2018, I moved into prosecution work, joining the Crown Prosecution Service within the specialist Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) Unit. I later prosecuted on behalf of the Care Quality Commission, where I developed a particular interest in criminal regulatory enforcement and coronial matters.
After relocating to Cumbria with my family in 2021—a county I have grown to love—I joined local government as a Senior Lawyer. In this role, I expanded my expertise in regulatory enforcement and private prosecutions, providing specialist advocacy and legal advice across a wide range of criminal regulatory issues.
Regulatory & Enforcement Expertise
Alongside traditional criminal practice, I have significant experience in:
- Trading Standards
- Environmental enforcement
- Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigations
- Education offences
- Street works prosecutions
- Magistrates Court licensing appeals
I also led the implementation of the first Commercial Closure Orders in Cumbria on behalf of Trading Standards, targeting illicit tobacco and vape sales. These orders have become an innovative and highly effective enforcement tool, helping to tackle persistent criminality and protect local communities.
Inquests & Coronial Law
I maintain a strong interest in Inquest and Coronial Law. I can advise and where appropriate represent Interested Persons—including public bodies, organisations, and private individuals—in complex and sensitive inquest proceedings. I am highly experienced in advising on Prevention of Future Death (PFD) Reports and supporting organisations with compliance, risk management, and responses to Coroners’ concerns.
My Approach
Clients describe my approach as calm, pragmatic, and approachable. No matter how sensitive the case, I guide clients through every stage of proceedings with clarity, professionalism, and dedication. My background in both defence and prosecution gives me a rare dual perspective, enabling me to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities from all sides of a case.
Whatever the nature of the matter, I am committed to providing high‑quality legal advice founded on experience, integrity, and a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for every client.
Experience Meets Dedication.
